Job Description

  • Manage and implement customer-initiated network change requests for Change Management

  • Configure, upgrade and maintain enterprise-level router and switch configurations

  • Plan, schedule, communicate and implement WAN, LAN, WLAN, and associated technologies

  • Participate in implementing weekend and weekday changes on a three-week rotating schedule in accordance with published change windows

  • Participate in planning meetings and ensure standards are implemented and assist in the development of best in class processes

  • Collaborate with Network Engineering/Planning on new standards/projects/implementations/technologies

  • Provide technical direction to Network Analysts and Administrators for network software and hardware implementations

  • Provide operational support for change and incident management (including break/fix) on a scheduled rotational basis

  • Develop operational processes, procedures and documentation for peers to participate in new and emerging network technologies (i.e. Cisco ACI, SDWAN, Optical networking, Cisco 9000 series, IoT, Smart Buildings, advances in wireless, etc.)

Skills & Experience Required

  • Broad understanding large scale network layers (core, distribution, and access)

  • Strong understanding of the OSI Model network L2/L3 switching and routing protocols (IP, TCP ARP, ICMP, UDP, SMTP, FTP, TFTP)

  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IGRP, EIGRP)

Experience Preferred

  • Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches (3850, 3850 stacks, Nexus 5000, 7000, 9000 series and supporting software (NX-IOS), Cisco NCS 2000, Cisco ACI and VSS technology)

  • Experience with common network changes (VLAN, ACL, ACI, VTP, QOS)

  • Experience with switching parameters (UDLD, spanning tree, port fast, duplex mismatch)

  • Other Cisco certifications desired include CCDP, CCNP

  • Working knowledge of server load balancing devices (F5 GTM/LTM)

  • Working knowledge of device support for autonomous and lightweight wireless networks

  • Verifiable Cisco CCNA certification required

  • 2+ years of network experience
