G-TECH Services, Inc. Drivetrain Metals Process/Quality Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Responsibilities

  • This engineer will support the Axle and Drive-line Engineering teams to assure that core drive-line hardware (Drive-line and Axle metal components and sub-components) are designed and spec'd with best practices for materials, process, and controls.

  • Review in detail of product engineering drawings for core materials, machining, surface finish, heat treat, welding, Shot peen and related specifications.

  • Utilize the group specifications and documents or develop/document unique specifications to create best practice documents for design, manufacture, and analysis/validation of core metals to finished parts.

  • Review metals processes, quality validation procedures, and NDT methods at tiered supplier's facilities for robustness and compliance to with requirements.

  • Prioritize open issues with above and coordinate resolution and read-across for all Drive-train.

  • Assist in incorporate learnings into best practice documents and work with supplier quality to incorporate into their metrics.

  • Job assignment is primarily located at the Auburn Hills, Michigan, but will also include travel to facilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and other supplier locations.

Qualifications

  • BSME, BSEE, BS or MS in Materials/Metallurgy, MSME, or MSEE required.

  • Demonstrated competency and experience in core metal materials, mechanical properties, metal casting/forming, material processing including all types of heat treatments, all types of metal machining, welding, surface treatments, and post processing.

  • The ideal candidate has experience in multiple disciplines/products in Power-train and/or Chassis torque transfer systems or structural systems

  • Must have experience with material /metal engineering

  • Great communication skills

  • Will be a part of weekly meetings.

  • Will be expected to prepare and present presentations.

  • Microsoft Office programs experience (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Transmission and drive-train systems strongly preferred

Travel

  • Will be required to drive a company car.

  • Valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.

  • Travel to facilities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and other supplier locations. (20-30%)
