G-TECH Services, Inc. Joining Technician/Trainer - Intermediate in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Description:

· The Joining Technician/Trainer - Intermediate position is a multi-functional role.

· The Technician portion will involve the evaluation of welded samples for the bi-annual weld audit requirements.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Verifying all welds are received, identified properly, analyzed, and documented.

· Operate and maintain MET Lab equipment such as: wet cut-off saw, wet disc sanders, grinders, ban-saw, vice, handle chemicals, general hand tools, and welding microscope with analytical software.

· Must know all of the nomenclature related to weld cross-section evaluation per AWS specifications.

· Must be able to communicate with the plant representatives to resolve issues with submitted weld samples.

The Trainer portion involves weld training.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

· Training Direct, Contract, PSP, NBU and SBU resources in various types of welding.

· Teach proper maintenance of welding equipment.

· Teach proper safety procedures when welding.

· Communicate the company specification requirements as well as the welding skills required to pass the qualification tests.

Requirements:

· May be required to operate a company vehicle. Valid driver's license is required along with a clean driving record.

· There will be moderate local, domestic, and international (Mexico and Canada) travel required.

· Please note the primary welding will be Fusion, for this posting.

Required:

· Bachelor degree in Welding Engineering Technology or related discipline AND 2 years’ of related experience OR min of 5 years’ of experience related to weld inspection and training (automotive industry a plus)

· Must have exceptional welding skills in the following disciplines in all positions: GMAW (steel, Si-Bronze, Al-Bronze), FCAW, SMAW, GTAW (Si-Bronze, steel, Aluminum)

· Strong understanding of AWS or CWA weld inspection procedures or other source of weld inspection training

· Ability to train personnel and convey topics in an understandable manner

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Able to understand engineering graphics and weld symbols

· Good understanding of (WCM, FPS, TPS) or similar manufacturing production systems, methodologies, and tools.

· Ability to maintain welding equipment and robotic welding equipment

· Solid skills working in Microsoft Office and Google Suite with focus on Power Point, Slides, Excel, Sheets, Word, and Notes.

· Must possess the ability to speak to small groups, executives, and UAW employees.

· Must understand the BIW specifications completely as related to welding.

Preferred:

· Strong understanding of welding parameters and a broad understanding of weld manufacturing processes. Lincoln, Fanuc, and ARO

· Knowledge of welding inspection software

· Robotic welding experience is a plus.

· An AWS or CWA certified welding credential preferred but not required
