Job Description:

  • The Senior Engineer will be responsible for directing and coordinating the Engineering staff in the strategy, planning, and execution of program deliverables.

  • They will serve as the primary technical contact with Program Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Finance, and must be well versed to speak to the technical aspects of the program.

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the technical coordination and optimization with other technical departments (design, calibration, control systems, testing) to achieve program targets (cost, timing, durability, fuel economy, performance, emissions, drivability, NVH).

  • They will identify requirements and collect cross-functional department information, data and facts to make sound technical decisions in the appropriate forum to meet functional objectives within program scope.

  • They will champion efficiency and system level analysis and decision making to meet customer and regulatory requirements for maximum value.

  • Communicate key technical decisions and issues to executive management

  • Ensure technical risks and issues have clear path to resolution

  • Ensure ER&D budget is accurate and comprehensive

  • Generate powertrain description and sub-system technical specifications

  • Execute technical aspects of change notices, including appropriate function model / DVPR / DFMEA and sponsor them through the change review process

  • Ensure designs and systems follow best practices with full use of upfront CAE analysis and simultaneous engineering

  • Confirm component and system designs and verification / validation testing are completed with efficient use of resources to reduce lead time and development costs

  • Encourage and promote possible patents as a result of product innovation

  • Support development timing and costs in response to requests for product change

  • Design engine components from concept and prototype build levels to production, including characteristics from Lessons Learned in other programs and the COE engineering requirements.

  • Lead global cross functional teams to develop parts which meet all regions requirements.

  • Deliver all functional and manufacturing aspects for the engines, engine components and systems.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a hardware design and release and engine calibration release engineer

  • Extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines and associated technologies

  • Self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced and multifaceted environment

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to interface with senior management

  • Skilled in MS Office (including PowerPoint and Project)

  • Experience with mechanical engineering component design

  • Engineer must be experienced with basic PC software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)

  • Good teamwork skills, ability to work independently and to manage suppliers

  • Knowledge of releasing process, DFMEA’s, DVP’s and root cause analysis methodologies.

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA or Master of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university

  • 3 years of experience in engine calibration and controls

  • Supervisory or leadership experience

  • Familiar with Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter

  • Passion for, interest in and hands on working knowledge of cars and engines

  • Experience releasing components at an OEM or large Tier 1 company.

  • Powertrain design experience.

  • Resident Engineering (or equivalent) manufacturing experience.


  • Will be required to drive a company car.

  • A valid driver’s license is required as well as a clean driving record.

  • Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
