Responsibilities

Design assignments will range from complete exterior bodies to singular components such as front/rear end designs, wheels, exterior lighting and graphics/badging. Interior design assignments will range from complete interior compartments to singular components such as instrument panels, door panels, center consoles, steering wheels, hard trim, seats and gauge clusters.

  • Create both production and advanced exterior and/or interior design proposals while demonstrating exceptional design intuition, strong presentation and design communication skills

  • Facilitate the design and development of performance and accessory components/systems

  • Support engineering in design and manufacturing feasibility and packaging. Requires coordination with suppliers, core engineering and design office to design data and models using data management systems and NX (CAD design software)

  • Host design reviews and complete/coordinate design follow-up actions

  • Required to develop and continually improve the data design process

  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with engineering, design office and suppliers

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in automotive or design, or Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, or BS in Industrial, Product Design

  • 3+ years of automotive exterior and/or interior product design experienceWorking knowledge of Alias, Illustrator, and Photoshop

  • 3-5 years' of NX design work experience (will not consider internships or coops as part of the work experience)

  • 1+ years of experience in automotive or aftermarket vehicle accessory designsExperience with CAD and Data Management utilizing NX/Teamcenter

  • Critical thinking for Engineering feasibility and packaging to be able to recommend material usage and manufacturing processing

  • Ability to create both production and advanced design proposals while demonstrating exceptional design intuition

  • Ability to artistically represent 2-D and 3-D concepts using a wide variety of presentation techniques, including manual/digital sketching, ALIAS, Photoshop and/or similar programs

  • Experience with manual and digital sketching

  • Ability to work with a project team of technical engineers, clay sculptors and fabrication specialists is preferred

  • Strong presentation and design communication skills

  • Must possess an exceptional awareness of the global state of automotive design concepts and emerging design trends

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in automotive or design

  • Experience in stamping, castings, molding
