Position Description:

The I4 Engine Calibration Department within Vehicle Propulsive Systems Engineering is seeking a experienced and motivated Vehicle Technologist to manage our fleet of prototype and pre-production vehicles and to ensure the success of our testing operations in Dearborn, MI and at domestic remote testing locations. Our team of engineers is responsible for delivering emissions capability, on-board diagnostics compliance, and engine performance for a variety of global products with I4 internal combustion engines. The vehicle technologist serves a crucial role on this team by overseeing vehicle instrumentation, test preparation, and safety measures for laboratory and road usage, coordinating work orders with our technician partners, carrying out hardware and software updates for test vehicles, and maintaining tools, service parts, and prototype parts within our garage. The technologist supports the engineering team with triaging complex mechanical or electrical issues, prioritizing work based on our product development timeline and deliverables, and using data acquisition and testing to support signoff of some engine control attributes. A great candidate for this role is highly organized, proactive, communicative, and thrives in a collaborative environment. This position is 100% on-site.

Skills Preferred:

Knowledge of turbocharged internal combustion engine components Metalwork and fabrication

Experience Required:

Vehicle maintenance and diagnostics (OBDII) Internal combustion engine service Instrumentation calibration Bench or in-vehicle testing

Experience Preferred:

On-board diagnostics Data acquisition with CAN / ECU emulators Chassis dynamometer testing
