Position Description:

Manufacturing Systems Engineer will be a part of the VO P708 Launch Team at the Kentucky Truck Plant. VOME is a multi-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants. The Manufacturing/Systems Engineer will be a part of this team and be responsible for the following: Deliver Body Shop Manufacturing Tooling and Facility implementation for a New Model Vehicle. Co-located on-site during New Vehicle Launches at Vehicle Manufacturing plant. Position is based in either Dearborn, Michigan or at Kentucky Truck Plant. If based out of Kentucky Truck Plant, future travel to launches at other client Manufacturing Plants outside of Kentucky may be required. Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements. Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations. Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Manufacturing feasibility issues. Lead development of a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of Tooling and Facility projects. Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy-offs at vendor facilities. Lead team to identify and resolve launch product and tooling issues. Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs. Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives. Work with multi-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).

Skills Required:

Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to support launch programs on extended travel status out of town Closure Manufacturing, Closure Install, Hemmer Coordination and Systems experience including Closing Efforts Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints Ability to work with minimal direct supervision

Skills Preferred:

Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mentality Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.) Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles

Experience Required:

Experience in Body Construction, Aluminum Manufacturing, Riveting and Adhesive Joining Error proofing

Education Required:

Bachelors in Engineering or Equivalent work Experience
