Position Description:

Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering (VOME) is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants. The Manufacturing Engineer candidate will be a part of this team and be responsible for the following: • Deliver Manufacturing Quality Operating System requirements for Collaborative Robot Inspection System around Electrical and Powertrain Components • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements • Use virtual tools to evaluate tooling feasibility of new model designs for assembly operations • Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering (FAE) feasibility issues • Develop and foster working relationships with new and existing tooling vendors to develop new processes/equipment and to continuously improve the equipment we have already deployed. • Lead assembly tooling buy-off, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buy-offs at vendor facilities • Lead Program Cost Studies and work with cross functional teams within the organization to ensure proper Tooling is included and a plan for implementation. • Develop Design and Build Scopes of Work associated with Collaborative Robot Inspection System along with Installation Scopes of Work. • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product, process and tooling issues • Review and Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs • Interface with cross-functional activities (Program Implementation Teams, Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs)

Skills Required:

• Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.) • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints. • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision

Skills Preferred:

• 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent) • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles • Knowledge in the following software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS/Auros, AIMS, CPARS/Aurora • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line • Background in Controls Design and PLC programming preferred • Robots • Rockwell PLC (Control Logix) and other Rockewell components required • RSLogix 5, 500, 5000; RSView and Factory Talk knowledge • Vision Systems

Experience Required:

• 2+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering • 2+ years of experience w/automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities

Experience Preferred:

• Robots • Vision systems

Education Required:

BS in Electrical Engineering or 5 year minimum controls experience + engineering degree

Education Preferred:

BS in Electrical Engineering or 5 year minimum controls experience + engineering degree

Additional Information :

Extended travel to assembly plants in US, Canada, and/or Mexico required
