G-TECH Services, Inc. Junior Accountant in Detroit, Michigan

Performs a variety of analytical and transactional tasks in support of the accounting function within the

Finance division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be

assigned.

  1. Perform and maintain record of journal and account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting

activities.

  1. Prepare and maintain bank and general ledger account reconciliations and investigate variances for

correction.

  1. Respond to internal and external customer inquiries related to financial transactions.

  2. Assist with supervision and workload distribution to Accounting Clerks and provide quality review

of work completed by peers.

  1. Process accounts payable invoices, primarily purchase order invoices.

  2. Process bank/check related functions, such as deposits, voids, cancels, reissues, bank lookup, file

processing, balancing and controlling.

  1. Administer premium payment application and investigation/resolution.

  2. Perform balancing, controlling, and processing computer and manual check writings and 1099

production.

  1. Service and respond to customer phone, written, and/or walk-in inquiries.

  2. Assist in updating and maintaining corporate policies and procedures.

  3. Provides attention to detail and precise reporting through verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.

  2. Associates in Accounting or a minimum of 60 credit hours towards obtaining a Bachelor’s in

Business Administration with a major in Accounting with at least two basic accounting classes

preferred.

  1. Two (2) or more years’ experience related to the duties mentioned above.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Problem analysis and resolution requiring independent judgement with supervision.

  2. Attention to detail and precise reporting abilities as an error have a significant negative impact on

the department and corporate credibility and image.

  1. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills are necessary to achieve interdepartmental and inter-divisional goals.

  2. Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to communicate with co-workers, management, and

other departments, as well as banking institutions.

  1. Must possess problem identification/resolution skills, and exercise independent judgement with

minimal supervision.

  1. Working knowledge of generally accepted principles and practices of Accounting.

  2. Exposure to computerized systems and accounting applications: Microsoft Excel and Access

preferred.

  1. An understanding of Corporate Accounting Policy.

  2. Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
