A Welding Engineer at the company in Body Assembly is the technical lead for all weld quality improvement and containment actions. The candidate with the appropriate skill set and personality will be able to deliver the high welding requirements for our vehicles and lead multiple levels of employees on welding solutions. The appropriate candidate must have excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Detail oriented work habits to constantly check and update welding documentation. • Confidence to make timely decisions in the midst of production-critical situations. • Able to interact and guide UAW skilled trades to diagnose and improve the shop's welding capability. • Supervise a team of Weld Inspectors to ensure routine inspections are accomplished. • Have a consensus building personality in order to implement improvements as a team. • Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks without micro-management.
• Destructive and non-destructive weld inspection. Ultra-sound is a plus. • Launching tooling. Experience can range in size from the lead on a project to part of a team for an entire plant. • Exposure to ISO 9001/14000. • Knowledge of MS products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power point) required.
Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience with welding. UAW experience is preferred.
• Welding Engineering degree preferred or a Bachelors of Science with a minimum of 10 years of similar experience.
